Circle JF Saddlery custom builds Western saddles designed to your specifications.
For a great fitting saddle, it has to be custom! First, we will set up an appointment to discuss details, so be prepared to give a lot of information so your saddle is exactly what you want.
There are many ways to build a Western saddle. The 3 major factors that we use as a guide are:
1. Type of riding
2. Breed of horse you ride
3. Where you ride
These 3 factors will help you decide the type of tree, type of rigging, and the overall look of the saddle.
CJF Custom saddles start with a leather ground seat that is designed to fit like a glove. We first take into consideration the difference between male and female seats to make a comfortable ride just for you.
After the seat and gullet are complete, the skirts are cut out, blocked and fit to the tree. Once we get the look we want tooling or carving is done. The skirts are then strung and lined with 100% Bark-Tanned Sheep skin wool.
Next, is the horn. This can be anything from a wrapped roper to a rawhide braided barrel racer. The rigging is then added and the fork cover is formed and tooled and then the cantle is formed.
Now for the fun part! The final seat and design, which is a very long process. We use the heavy butt section of the hide to give a tough, long-lasting seat and jockey. The rear jockeys are cut, fit and tooled and ready for final assembly.
The final steps include oiling and assembling. The seat is hand-stitched at the cantle, skirts are fastened, jockeys pulled into place, saddle strings and tugs are tightened, strirrup leathers are wrapped, twisted, and set. Every detail is double-checked. Latigos, cinch and stirrups are added and the entire saddle is inspected one last time.
Now you are ready to ride and like Winston Churchill said " No hour of life is wasted that is spent in a saddle."
There are many types of Western Saddles, such as a Wade, Roper, Cutter, Reiner, Show, All Around, Trail, Barrel and Endurance.
Any tooling pattern can be done from a plain or rough-out, to full basket stamp, floral, acorn & oak leaves, your brand, or even draw your own pattern.
Don't forget the "pretties"! Silver, tooling, colors, and conchos will make your saddle one of a kind!
